Vintage June 1968 24 Heures du Mans Race Poster (Race was postponed to September due to strikes and student riots in Paris).
June 15 & 16, 1968.
The poster shows the start on the 1967 edition with the Ferrari 330 P3 S/N 0846 of Chris Amon and Nino Vaccarella heading the pack away from the start.
It is part of the so-called "Modern Photographic Approach" era in Le Mans posters which lasted from 1964 - 1971.
The layout and production of this poster were in the hands of Imprimerie Oberthur who realized this poster based on a color photograph, by Andre Delourmel, of the start of the 1967 edition.
The race was won by Pedro Rodriguez & Lucien Bianchi in their # 9 John Wyer Ford GT40 with a total of 331 laps to their name.
The 1968 race would prove to be a disaster for Ferrari with the ONLY Ferrari that made it to the finish being the Ferrari 250 LM of David Piper and Richard Attwood in 7th place.
